Not All Corten Steel Is The Same

Most Corten products sold online are 1.6mm imported steel. It flexes, it bows, and it won't hold a straight line under soil pressure. Ours is 3mm architectural-grade fabricated in-house at our Bayswater workshop and ready for same-day pickup. For those who'd rather do the job once.

Corten steel ring planters designed for clean, durable planting features in residential and commercial landscapes.

Corten steel ring planters are circular steel planters formed from architectural grade Corten steel. They are designed to create clean, simple planting features that suit modern landscape and outdoor construction projects.

Supplied as rolled steel rings, these planters are suitable for use as freestanding garden features or integrated into landscape designs. Over time, the steel develops a natural protective patina that enhances durability and appearance.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will Corten edging stain my pavers or concrete?

During the first 4–12 weeks while the patina develops, there can be rust-coloured runoff during heavy rain. We recommend leaving a small gap between the edging and any light-coloured pavers, concrete, or stone during this period. Once the patina stabilises, runoff effectively stops.

How long does it take to develop the rust patina?

In Melbourne's climate, you'll see significant colour change within 4–8 weeks. Full stabilisation typically takes 3–6 months depending on how much rain and sun the edging gets. It arrives raw silver/grey steel and darkens progressively to the classic warm rust finish.

Is this Corten steel or just mild steel?

All our edging is fabricated from architectural grade Corten weathering steel. Unlike mild steel which rusts through and deteriorates, Corten forms a stable oxide layer that actually protects the underlying metal. Our Corten edging is 3mm thick, nearly double the 1.6mm thickness sold by most online retailers in Australia.

Can I get custom lengths or heights?

Yes. We fabricate everything in-house at our Bayswater North workshop so custom sizes are no problem. Contact us with your requirements and we'll quote within 24 hours. Standard lead time for custom orders is 1–3 business days.

Do you deliver?

Yes. Local delivery across Melbourne starts from $25. Contact us for a quote based on your location and order size. Most customers choose to collect from our Bayswater North workshop for same day pickup.
